WWE Tips: Scatter books all around you

How to be good at English?  USE it.

How to use English?  WRESTLE.

What is WRESTLE?  Write.  Read.  Speak.  Talk.  Listen.

Students read.  Teenagers read.  Malaysians do read.   Read here. (Taken from one of my MUST-READ blogs everyday -universitipts.com).

One of the reasons why readers become readers is because they have ACCESS to reading materials.  Books, novels, magazines, newspapers are around them.  Nowadays, we don’t only read paper, but we read ‘screen’ too – SMS, e-mails, blogs, etc.  Hence the term “screenagers”.

So here’s a simple logic.  More access to books will lead to more reading.  More reading will lead to better writing, vocab, grammar, spelling.

Same explanation applies to tv watching.  Why do kids, teens, adults love to watch tv?  Because it is accessible.  Every household has at least ONE tv screen.  Not to mention ASTRO.  (Mi casa up till now is ASTRO-free).

Back to reading – the first step to promote the love for reading is to make reading materials available anywhere, anytime.  The tip is:  SCATTER BOOKS, MAGAZINES, COMICS, NEWSPAPERS all around you.

In English, in Bahasa, in Arabic, in any language.  They don’t have to be brand new books.  They can just be ‘bundle’ type of books.  You can get good second-hand National Geographic, Reader’s Digest, novels in Pasar Malam you know.  Go and scout for them.

In other words:

So, start scattering.  Start reading.  Welcome to a new world!
